Alert for Android users: New Octo 2 malware endangers privacy and bank accounts

Smartphone users all across the globe are at risk of becoming prey to fraudulent activities. Recently, a few experts have alerted Android users regarding a serious malware-app that has jeopardised their privacy by disguising renowned platforms such as Google Chrome, and more and is involved in suspicious acts.

This malware particularly targets the user's bank account and tries to steal your personal data. It is capable to adversely affect your date and access confidential information, posing a great threat to user’s privacy. 

ThreatFabric, a cybersecurity company researchers recently spotted this latest version of the Octo Android malware which is known as Octo 2 and notified all the users to stay alert about it, as this is rapidly spreading all over Europe.

Back in 2022, ThreatFabric flagged the alarming banking trojan, Octo, Since that time, this malware has received a few significant alterations and become more advanced.

Octo 2’s mechanism is highly advanced as compared to its previous model, which is extremely challenging to detect and requires advanced technology. This malware lets hackers to easily lock and mute your device’s screen, send suspicious messages to your contacts, and is capable of accessing your entire device. 

Additionally, it can infilter users’ SMS, allowing users to cut off the codes received via different text messages.
