iOS 17, the newly launched operating system for iPhone models, brings exciting improvements and new features to enhance user experience. Let's explore the iOS 17 updates.
The beta 1 version of iOS 17.2 has introduced the Journal app — Apple first mentioned about this at WWDC back in June 2023. The aforementioned app will allow the user to record their daily thoughts and activities with images, text, sound and even workouts.
The update also brings collaborations to Apple Music playlists, a translation feature to the Action button and a few enhancements to Messages.
Now if you are planning to download iOS 17.2, it is recommended that you do it on a backup or secondary phone.
The iOS 17.2 developer beta's issues could cripple your iPhone and make it difficult to use, disabling phone calls or text messages or making it extremely laggy. However, if you only have your main phone or tablet available, make sure to back up your iPhone on iOS 17.1 (the latest version of iOS 17) before updating to iOS 17.2. That way you have the option to return to iOS 17.1 if there are too many issues on the new OS.
Features of iOS 17
Journaling app for mental health tracking: Apple has developed a journaling app to integrate with the Health app. This app will analyse user behaviour, track daily routines, and suggest topics to write about. Additionally, it may include an "All Day People Discovery" feature to detect physical proximity to friends and colleagues.
Smart display-like feature: iOS 17 has introduced a new interface for iPhones when locked horizontally, displaying more information such as calendar appointments, weather, and notifications in a smart-home display style. This feature is expected to use a dark background with bright text for improved readability.
App Library and Apple Music tweaks: The App Library will receive custom categories and organisational features, while Apple Music also offers the ability to view lyrics directly on the Lock Screen.
New emojis: As with every major iOS update, iOS 17 has introduced new emojis, adding to the existing collection and bringing more diversity and fun to communication.
