It's an Android tradition of being considerate of user needs and then fulfilling them, and one of them is notifications which are capable of merging, showing smart replies, and allowing to reply in-line.
But still, there is still so much more users believe needs to be addressed, like how the OS treats old notifications, and as we mentioned above, the latest beta version of Android 15 rolled out with a fix for old notification spam.
Android 15 rejects notifications older than two weeks
By the "old notification spam", we are referring to the ones Android users have seen on their other devices with the same Google account active in them.

Since a new feature to fix this has fortunately been deployed in the latest Android 15 QPR1 beta, it now downplays notifications that are older than two weeks.
So cheers as the notifications over two weeks old are no longer going to wildly ring or vibrate your phone. On top of it, the new feature even holds back the contents of those notifications, with the exception of some details to let users get an idea of what apps or contacts they should check up on.
If you're pondering over how Google specifies a notification to be a certain time older in case you booted up your secondary Android device after months, then know that Android shows you when a notification was pulled in in the notifications panel, and to figure out its age, it compares the current time with the timestamp of when the notification was sent.
