As Android 15 reaches users, anticipation is building for the upcoming changes in Android 16, with Google expected to refine popular features and address persistent user frustrations.

Simplified Private Space in Android 16

The Private Space feature in Android 15 allows users to create a hidden section on their phone with locked apps and even choose a separate Google account. However, its setup, resembling a separate user profile, requires re-installing all apps and selecting a new Google account. Users anticipate that Android 16 will streamline this process, making it simpler to set up Private Space without the hassle of app reinstallation.

Enhanced security settings by default

Android 15 introduced important anti-theft features, including Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. However, these security options are off by default and somewhat hidden within settings. Android 16 is expected to enable these features by default, making them easier for users to activate and enhancing device security without extra setup steps.

Improved control over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi toggles

At present, switching off Bluetooth or Wi-Fi in Android 15’s control centre does not fully disable them, as they automatically reactivate after some time. To keep them off, users must go into settings. Android 16 is anticipated to address this by allowing toggles to remain off until manually re-enabled, catering to users who prefer more stable connectivity settings.

Expanded high-level support for apps and games

Rumours suggest that Android 16 will bring stronger support for high-end apps and games, along with a Samsung DeX-like desktop experience, potentially boosting productivity on Android devices.
