Apple has begun assembling the iPhone 16 in Brazil, reflecting the company's efforts to reduce high import taxes and expand its supply chain.

The Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled the highly-anticipated iPhone 16 lineup over a week ago, which is now available for preorders and scheduled to ship starting Friday, September 20.

Initially, reports indicated that China and India would assemble the new iPhone models, but Brazil has now joined the list of countries where the iPhone 16 is being manufactured.

Brazil to produce iPhone 16 locally

According to MacMagazine, Foxconn’s plant in Jundiaí, São Paulo is responsible for assembling the iPhone 16 in Brazil locally.

It should be noted that this is the first time new iPhone models will be assembled in Brazil from the first day of release and will arrive in the country just a week after the US launch.

Previously, the tech giant began assembling the basic iPhone 15 model months after its official release in the US.
