Apple Event 2024: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, AirPods launched with new AI features

Apple unveils iPhone 16 series, Watch Series 10, AirPods 4 today

All the rage around finally came to fruition and morphed into reality as Apple's Glowtime event was held at the Apple Park, Cupertino, jolting the entire realm of technology with the AI push it registered on the latest iPhone 16 series. 

The iPhone maker disclosed all it had to offer on the latest upgrades of its flagship devices, including the latest iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch SE 3, AirPods Max 2, and the AirPods 4. 

As rumours from the most credible source for Apple news suggested, AirPods Max 2 were also announced at Apple's Glowtime event, a product which would stole the spotlight during the show.  

On the wearable section, Apple opted for an update cycle instead of releasing the Apple Watch 3, introducing new colourways for its existing Apple Watch 2 with a pack of slightly enhanced features and functionalities. 

Apple Watch Series 10 launched

Pushing the boundaries of wearable technology, Apple has launched its Apple Watch Series 10, the latest iteration of its existing Apple Watch series.

Not only is it thinner, but the new Apple Watch model is also much lighter in terms of weight. Going the extra mile, the iPhone maker has done well by not compromising on the features and functionalities, bringing the ultimate comfort and top-notch health and accessibility features under the hood of the sleekly designed Apple Watch Series 10.

The Apple Watch Series 10 comes with an aluminium case which is 10% lightweight compared to its predecessor. The polished Titanium finish of the Apple Watch Series 10 makes it more lightweight thanks to the material used to make it a gorgeous-looking wearable.

This year's Apple Watch Series 10 replaces stainless steel with titanium, proving remarkably durable when the strength-to-weight ratio is concerned.  

Depth app on Apple Watch Series 10 

Priced at an affordable price tag of $399 for the standard model, the Apple Watch Series 10 also has a meticulously crafted Depth app. The Apple Watch Series 10 trim equipped with GPS and cellular is listed on a bit higher price tag of $499. 

The 10th version of the Apple Watch features a 40% brighter wide-angle OLED screen, which accommodates way more content than the Apple Watch Ultra. 

The new Apple Watch Series 10 is just 9.7mm thick, 10 %thinner than the Apple Watch Series 9, which Apple says is larger OLED screen, the largest used in an Apple Watch to date, letting the wearable display more on-screen text than before.  

20 feet deep water resistance on new Apple Watch series

Available for preorders starting today, the Apple Watch Series 10 is water resistant up to 20 feet deep since it is now certified for high-speed water sports. This functionality is looked after by Apple's Depth app. The app has so far been exclusive to Apple Watch Ultra models only.   

AirPods 4 unveiled at Apple event

Being observed at the Apple Park in Cupertino, Apple has announced at its Glowtime event new AirPods 4.

The latest AirPods variant is equipped with a refined design based on 50 million data points for maximum comfort, an H2 chip for improved sound quality and Spatial Audio, hands-free controls, Force Touch, and a USB-C port, providing up to 30 hours of battery life.

A more potent and higher-tier version of the AirPods 4 sports noise cancellation, which also brings to the table transparency mode, adaptive audio, and conversation awareness.  

AirPods Pro 2 hearing features

Apple says that features coming to the AirPods Pro 2 have been designed to help prevent hearing loss while familiarising people with it with the help of a feature called "Hearing Protection".

The feature automatically gets turned on by default, and users will be able to undergo a medically approved hearing test to see whether they already have some hearing problem or not.

Moreover, AirPods Pro 2 has a feature which is built-in, and complements its hearing profile after a user gets done and dusted with the hearing test.  

AirPods Max announced in Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, Starlight

Apple also announced a much lighter addition to its AirPods Max, bringing a slew of vibrant colour options and a USB-C port. The new shades on the new AirPods include Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Starlight, getting rid of the current lineup of finishes.

On the sideline of the AirPods Max, the AirPods Pro 2 have received a pack of new health features. These features are aimed at keeping the health of your ears intact when listening to your music.

iPhone 16 announced with camera button, AI features and vibrant shades

Apple has launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, with the primary focus staying on artificial intelligence, something which rumours suggested would not even be mentioned at the event.

The new iPhone series boasts a redesigned side button which makes it easier to capture photo and video. Moreover, a customisable Action button, and improved durability have also been ingrained on the list of key features of the iPhone 16 series.

A larger display and a new A18 chip make the iPhone 16 deliver unmatched performance, while highlighting the integration of a suite of AI-powered features that exploit both on-device and cloud-based processing.

Apple on the iPhone 16 offers a variety of a refreshed colour lineup that are more vivid compared to those featured on previous series. The iPhone 16 series bring to the table the vertically-aligned dual-camera arrangement on its rear.

The buzzed up specifications of the iPhone 16 include the new A18 chip with 3nm process which make it 30% faster than the processing power of the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 16 comes with dual setup of a 48MP rear camera and its autofocusing ultra-wide camera offers something which is on par with four lenses in terms of a 2x crop mode and macro mode.

The base model of the iPhone 16 has 6.1-inch screen whereas the iPhone 16 Plus features a 6.7-inch display, a screen size Apple introduced with the iPhone 15 series, but what sets it apart is the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus can reach 2,000 nits of peak brightness and go down to 1 nit when dimming is concerned.  

Apple launched iPhone 16 Pro with 'the best iPhone battery life ever' 

Apple's latest iPhone 16 Pro Max features a larger 6.9-inch display, up from the iPhone 16 Pro Max with 6.7 inches. 

The latest iPhone 16 Pro Max varint is designed with titanium and is offered in four colourways: black, white, natural, and a new "desert titanium". Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is claimed to have the best battery life ever seen in an iPhone.

Fusion camera on iPhone 16 Pro models

The iPhone 16 Pro Max incorporates "fusion camera", a new 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP 5x telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, something which the regular iPhone 16 Pro

The iPhone 16 Pro has a 48MP “fusion camera,” a new 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP 5x telephoto camera — which, on the regular iPhone 16 Pro, has the tetraprism design that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It also has the new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 lineup.

Some of the announced Apple Intelligence features will be made available in the beta form by October.

The Pro models of the iPhone 16 series are equipped with the A18 Pro chip, backed by a 16-core Neural Engine which Apple says will augment Apple Intelligence features' performance, including 15% faster performance than the iPhone 15 Pro.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max also accompanies better and crispier graphics courtesy of a 6-core GPU that’s 20% faster than the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro.
