Apple Card, launched in 2019 in the US, is now facing an expiration milestone for its first batch of titanium cards. The company has initiated the process of replacing these expiring cards with new ones for users who signed up for Apple Card in August 2019.

The first customers to have an Apple Card are now receiving emails from Apple, notifying them about the upcoming expiration and the subsequent replacement process. The replaced cards will be automatically sent to the cardholder's billing address within two weeks from the date of notification.

Interestingly, the titanium Apple Card, lacking any engraved information other than the holder's name, had left users unaware of their card's expiration date, which is approximately five years after issuance. However, with the recent notification, users now have clarity on the expiration and replacement process.

The replacement cards aim to ensure a seamless transition without any interruptions in card functionality. Cardholders can continue to use their current titanium card until it expires or activate the new one upon receipt. Furthermore, Apple emphasises that the digital functionality of Apple Card, including Apple Pay and virtual card number usage, remains unaffected during the transition period.

In line with Apple's sustainability efforts, the replacement cards will come with a prepaid shipping label for customers to send their old titanium cards for recycling. This initiative reflects Apple's commitment to minimising environmental impact while providing a smooth user experience for Apple Card holders.

As the original cards will cease to function upon expiration, users are advised to activate their new cards promptly upon receipt. With Apple's proactive approach, cardholders can anticipate a hassle-free transition to the new titanium cards, maintaining their privacy and sustainability goals in the process.
