Apple launched its new watch for kids, Apple Watch For Your Kids — the family setup experience for children — in India. Kid-focused Apple Watch allows adults to set up parental control for their children, letting them make calls and send messages even if they don’t have an iPhone.
Moreover, Apple is doing marketing of its Apple Watch for Your Kids feature a new page on its official site, but the capability to set up an Apple Watch without a connected iPhone was released a few years ago.
How does Apple Watch For Your Kids work?
According to Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple Watch For Your Kids allows kids to connect with friends and family, if they have the cellular model of Apple’s smartwatch.

Additionally, they can take the privilege of the communication, health, fitness, and safety features of the smartwatch with some parental controls. For calling, parents can pre-approve the contacts accessible to kids on the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch For Your Kids specifications
Apple Watch For Your Kids includes safety features like Emergency SOS (Save Our Souls), Apple Maps to navigate their way home and Find People for locating family members or sharing their current or live location.
In addition, children can track fitness activities through Activity rings and set goals for different workouts. Kids can challenge their friends by sending them Activity Sharing invitations. The parent or guardian can keep an eye on all of the preceding activities from their iPhone.
Moreover, it features a dedicated School-time mode which unfolds as a distinctive yellow circle on the Apple Watch face for easy recognition. When turned on, it restricts notifications, blocks apps and turns on Do Not Disturb.

According to Apple, this mode can be manually toggled, while parents can also schedule it through their iPhones.
Apple Watch For Your Kids system requirements
Apple claimed that this feature is available to users with an Apple Watch Series 4 or later or Apple Watch SE, connected with iPhone 8 or later running the latest watchOS and iOS.
To activate cellular service, a wireless service plan for Apple Watch is required. In addition, users will need an Apple ID for themselves and one for the family member they wish to set it up for, with two-factor authentication enabled on both accounts.
With the integration of the Apple Watch For Your Kids feature, the Apple Watch can deliver up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge, depending on the model.
