Apple Music to introduce THESE new features in iOS 18

While users are anticipating the iPhone 16 series launch alongside the long-rumoured iOS 18 in the coming week, Apple Music is set to offer a new way for music enthusiasts with this release.

The popular music streaming service is bringing several new upgrades out of which some are likely to arrive in iOS 18 while others in the 18.1 update which is expected in October.

New Apple Music features in iOS 18

SharePlay

With iOS 18, Apple Music will now offer a SharePlay feature for users without subscriptions. The feature is used to share control of what’s being played with friends and family.

Now, when someone is playing music over a HomePod, Apple TV, or any Bluetooth speaker, anyone nearby can view and edit the playback queue using a QR code. However, the feature is similar to the existing feature available with CarPlay.

Enhanced ‘Play After’ button in Apple Music

Apple Music has long offered “Play Next” and “Play Last” options for users to add music to the queue and is now Play Last option is likely to retitled as “Play After” in iOs 18. Now, users will be able to see what music the app will play after.

Music Haptics

Apple is adding a new music listening experience in iOS 18 called Music Haptics. The feature is disabled by default but can be enabled by navigating to the redesigned Settings app under Accessibility > Music Haptics. The feature is designed specifically for hearing-impaired users.

New iPad tab bar on Apple Music

With iPad OS 18, Apple is set to bring a new floating tab bar design to the iPad app that can be customised in several ways. Users can now add Individual playlists, Playlist folders, Recently Added, Albums, Made for You, and other options to the tab.

Apple Music's ‘New’ tab replaces ‘Browse’ in music navigation

Apple is gearing up to make a name change to the main navigation tabs for the Music app. The formerly called “Browse” tab has been renamed to “New.” However, the content under this tab will remain unchanged.
