Apple has rolled out a new iOS update, iOS 18.1.1, integrating new features, such as call recording options, along with the security fixes which Apple claims have been actively exploited by the hacker.
The online Apple Support said that malicious websites can lead to a disruption in arbitrary code of the iPhone. Apple claims that the update patches two security issues such as:
- JavaScriptCore: It is the framework, allowing your iPhone to run on Java code.
- Issues with Apple's own designed internet browser engine the WebKit, which is used in Safari.
How to download iOS 18.1.1 update
To download the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update, tap Update Now and follow the prompts on your screen.
A non-profit cyber security, Open Source Foundation for Application (OWASP Foundation) said that an attack on private data can get hackers access to exposed cookies, session tokens and other sensitive information which is stored in the browser to any third party.
Notably, Google Threat Analysis Group highlighted the issues to Apple, as this group works to protect user's data from government-sponsored hacking.
However, Apple has not provided any information regarding how iOS vulnerabilities were found by Google researchers.
