As people around the world are prioritising well-being of their properties and valuables in it, Apple is reportedly working on a smart doorbell camera for unlocking doors more efficiently.

The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to introduce the smart doorbell camera as part of its smart home product range by next year, as per the report.

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s smart doorbell camera will feature a FaceID. Utilising this technology, the smart doorbell will function similarly to Face ID on iPhones.

The smart doorbell will automatically unlock the door upon recognising familiar faces i.e. residents of a house.

The report also suggested that like other Apple products, the smart doorbell camera is anticipated to utilise the Secure Enclave chip that manages biometric information.

Moreover, the smart doorbell camera might work seamlessly with current third-party HomeKit smart locks, providing Apple users with greater flexibility within the ecosystem.

Currently, Apple’s smart doorbell is in the initial phases of development and is unlikely to come to global markets before the end of 2025.

On the sidelines, the tech giant is set to launch a new 6-inch display smart home hub in 2025. Apart from supporting FaceTime, the smart home hub can play videos and operate a variety of smart home gadgets.
