Apple has been expected to announce the release of two of its Apple Intelligence-powered image generation features with iOS 18.2 beta that the company plans to release in December 2024.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed that Apple has decided to further postpone the release of the long-awaited Genmoji and Image Playground features that will now begin shipping in iOS 18.2.

What is Genmoji feature?
The AI-powered tool “Genmoji” allows users to generate custom emojis based on a quick prompt. The feature enables users to express their feelings in a way the traditional emoji standard doesn’t allow.
Genmoji could be used as in-line images or shared as stickers or reactions with the text, making them appear similar to normal emojis. Moreover, users can also generate Genmojis of their friends and family based on their photos.
Image Playground feature
Image Playground, a new Apple tool, lets users generate all kinds of creative AI images. With three styles available including Animation, Illustration, and Sketch, users can select the one they prefer.
Based on this selection, the AI tool will generate images; however, it doesn’t support generating photo-realistic images.
Notably, another missing Apple Intelligence feature is ChatGPT support within Siri and across the system. The feature will be available later this year with iOS 18.2.
