Apple is planning to introduce support for PlayStation VR controllers on its Vision Pro headset. The new features bring the Apple Vision Pro nearer to gaming support with respect to its present failure at strong VR gaming capabilities.
Apparently, Apple is working on it through its visionOS software, according to Mark Gurman, and it has even collaborated with Sony for it.
Apple's new feature to support PlayStation VR controller
This new feature will support third-party VR hand controllers. These would be third-party VR hand controllers similar to the PlayStation VR2 controllers. It's a major deal since Apple and Sony have collaborated on integrating these controllers.
It has reportedly been said that Apple approached Sony earlier this year, and since then, the two have been working for months on developing the feature. Apple has even spoken with third-party developers about integrating this support into their games.
Although Apple initially planned to announce this feature last month, the feature's launch has been delayed but is expected to arrive unless it is scrapped.
Gurman adds that Apple has prototyped a special "wand" accessory similar to the Apple Pencil, which shall provide users with more precise control.
Apple Vision Pro can only use Xbox and PlayStation controllers for Apple Arcade, but it has limited gaming prowess due to the lack of hand controller support for VR applications.
According to the reports, Apple sold less than half a million units of Vision Pro, and most of its users did not use it as much as the firm expected.
