Apple has updated the assortment of its vintage and obsolete products, adding the iconic Apple Watch Series 4 and one of the last Intel Macs to the list.

The Apple Watch Series 4, announced in September 2018, was a significant upgrade from its predecessors. It introduced larger displays, thinner bezels, and rounder corners, making it a favourite among users.

The Series 4 also featured advanced health monitoring capabilities, including an ECG app and fall detection, which set a new standard for smartwatches.

What is Apple's vintage products list?

Apple considers a product "vintage" when it has been out of distribution for more than five years. When a product hasn't been distributed for more than seven years, it's considered obsolete. Vintage products are still eligible for repairs when parts are available, but obsolete products are not.

Apple Watch Series 4 becomes vintage

All the versions of the Apple Watch Series 4 worldwide are declared "vintage." Included are aluminium and stainless-steel models in both 40mm and 44mm sizes.

This year, Apple officially ended the software support for the Apple Watch Series 4 with the release of watchOS 11. The Series 4 received watchOS 10 as its last major update.

Other Apple products on vintage List

Apart from the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple has added the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro to its vintage products list.

This was the last 15-inch MacBook Pro that Apple released to the market, replacing it with the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the final model with an Intel processor.

Moreover, with the Series 4, the 2019 MacBook Pro can still run the latest version of macOS. In July 2024, the iPhone X, the first generation of AirPods, and the original HomePod were also added to the list of vintage products.
