Apple WWDC 2024: Genmoji lets you create AI-backed, personalised emojis with iOS 18

Tech giant Apple during the first day of its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024) has walked the talk, finally, by not letting a single feature or functionality skip to be draped by artificial intelligence (AI).

The probable, and most obvious too, reason behind this is the company's aim to make it the WWDC 2024 an AI-focused event.

Too much of beating around the bush. Let's get to the point we're here to reflect on: Genmoji in iOS 18. 

Apple Intelligence brings Genmoji Apple

Be with all eyes as the Cupertino-based tech tycoon introduced Genmoji, emojis which iPhone users can create from their very devices by leveraging AI ingrained into the latest iOS update, iOS 18.

The remarkable feat has been attained by Apple Intelligence, a comprehensive suite equipped with AI inside the iOS 18, serving as an umbrella to surrounding the functionality of AI features as one single entity. 

How to use genmoji

Out of those features, one of the most notable one is Genmoji. The iOS 18 would, once released, allow users to create Genmoji from the iOS 18 keyboard.

Bearing striking resemblance to AI image generators like Dall-E, Genmojis can be created by describing them. iPhone users would also be able to create a Genmoji from photos of their friends and family stored in their devices.

Genmoji release date

Genmoji announced at the WWDC 2024 keynote on June 10 is set to be released alongside iOS 18 later this year, likely in September, following Apple's usual release schedule for major software updates​.
