Apple features integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) were announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. However, these features were said to be launched free on compatible devices for iOS users, but a paid plus tier is expected to emerge in 2027 or later.
The Cupertino based-tech giant has been refining its AI technology for its upcoming devices and may need three years to develop premium features worth charging for.
According to Bloomberg, Apple could take at least three years to develop AI features that could be charged for. It's still testing the basic services of its free Apple Intelligence, and building paid offerings takes time.

If a paid Apple Intelligence Plus service is released, it won't limit the existing free features but instead will include new capabilities for some unknown monthly fee. There have been reports of a possible $20 per month charge, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Apple's AI features are still in the process of development, and continuous work is geared towards enhancing their quality and accuracy.
The models for some of these features have been working quite well; others, like image and emoji generators, maybe a little harder to calibrate.
Moreover, it is expected that even when a paid Apple Intelligence Plus subscription service would arrive, all of the existing features will be free. The new paid tier simply adds more features instead of replacing them.
