The movies and TV shows streaming giant Netflix has disallowed its subscribers to make payments from Apple's App Store.

In order to keep streaming content on the platform without being troubled, Netflix says that subscribers, who previously opted App Store's in-app payment method, will now need a different system to make their monthly payments.

It seems that the decision is driven by the platform's unwillingness to to pay the 15% fee which Apple announced last month while introducing new rules and regulations and allowing independent, third-party app marketplaces on iPhones.

In 2018, Netflix halted new subscriptions through iOS devices but allowed existing customers to continue paying through Apple's platform, as reported by MacRumors.

Although the company has not reflected on this in great detail, it's definite that customers in certain countries may need to add a new payment method, with details not yet specified.

"Some Apple-billed members in select countries may be prompted to add a new payment method to continue their subscription," Netflix said.

The number of subscribers paying via in-app purchases remains unclear, as Netflix transitioned to website subscriptions for Apple device users in 2018. Initially, Netflix allowed continued billing through in-app purchases, but it's now discontinuing this method.
