Apple is set to introduce its most-awaited M4 Mac lineup next week with updates to the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac.
The announcements are expected to roll out in a series of press releases, which Apple’s marketing executive Greg Joswiak called “an exciting week of announcements.”
One exciting addition is the availability of the Space Black colour option on the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M4 chip, a variant new on Apple's entire Mac lineup. Its fresh look comes with a design which looks down on the M3 MacBook Pro and its super-popular Space Grey finish.
Apple M3 MacBook Pro models to be phased out
Apple would discontinue several popular products with this new lineup of M4-powered devices. Here is a closer look at the three MacBook models that are on the brink of extinction.
Apple's M2 Mac mini to be discontinued
Currently, the Apple Mac mini lineup comes with M2 and M2 Pro chips, but all that is about to change with the upcoming release of Mac versions with M4 and M4 Pro chips.
The new Mac design is expected to be more streamlined and provide more front-facing ports for your convenience. If you are one of those who have been waiting for the M2 Mac mini, then this is probably your last chance before the device goes through design changes.
Apple may not sell M3 iMac after M4 chip
Apple’s colourful M3 iMac is also expected to be brought down the Apple shelves with the imminent M4 Mac, bringing significant performance boost to the table. Like the MacBook Pro update, this Mac refresh is likely to be more of a “light” update, meaning the main features and design will largely remain the same.
On top of all that, there are some exciting upgrades on the way for Apple accessories, as the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad are expected to switch from Apple’s proprietary Lightning port to USB-C, marking the end of the Lightning connector era for these devices.
