Assassin's Creed Shadows is an upcoming action-adventure game set in feudal Japan, developed by Ubisoft Quebec. It follows the story of two main characters, Yasuke and Naoe, as they navigate the treacherous world of samurais and ninjas.

Yasuke, a real-life samurai, and Naoe, a fictional shinobi, are the two playable protagonists that players can switch between to experience different play styles and storylines. The game is set in 1579, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and follows a non-linear campaign focused on eliminating objectives.

Yasuke and Naoe play very differently when it comes to stealth. Naoe excels at stealth, using her ninja skills to infiltrate enemy strongholds, while Yasuke is better suited to use her samurai training to kill enemies. The game features a new global illumination system, dynamic lighting and shadows, and a light meter that helps players navigate stealthily.

For your weapons, you'll have access to katanas, spears and shurikens, while more exotic weapons include Kanabu War Clubs and Kusarigama. Enemy armour can be broken in combat, and Ubisoft says that your weapons can damage every support in the game.

Assassin's Creed Shadows has a weather system in the game, cycling through spring, summer, autumn and winter, each with unique characteristics and challenges. The size of the map is actually similar to ancient Egypt, which mimics the central area of Japan.

Several editions of Assassin's Creed Shadows are available for pre-order, including a collector's edition with bonus DLC, a steel book cover, an art book, and figurines of Yasuke and Nao.
