The wait for 27-inch 4K OLED 240Hz gaming monitors comes to an end as Samsung, Asus, and MSI have simultaneously announced their next-generation QD-OLED gaming monitors.
This technology brings the key properties of 4K OLED 240Hz panels to a smaller 27-inch size, shifting from the traditional 32-inch format.
The new gaming computers utilise Samsung Display's fourth-generation QD-OLED panel, which according to Asus offers a longer lifespan compared to previous-gen OLEDs.
4K OLED 240Hz monitor features
Notably, Asus's model has a slightly smaller 26.5-inch viewable display, whereas MSI and Samsung have 27-inch monitors.
Both Asus's ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM and MSI's MPG 272URX QD-OLED boast DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR20), offering 80Gbps of bandwidth to support 4K at 240Hz without the need for Display Stream Compression (DSC).
However, Samsung's Odyssey OLED G8 specifications don't mention DisplayPort 2.1a.
Additionally, the Asus and MSI models support DisplayHDR True Black 400, with Asus also offering Dolby Vision HDR. Both tech giants provide a three-year warranty, including burn-in protection.
Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to confirm the warranty details for the Odyssey OLED G8.
Furthermore, all three monitors feature 0.03ms response times, 240Hz refresh rates, and over 160PPI for enhanced text clarity.
The gaming monitors’ release dates and pricing have yet to be announced by Samsung, Asus, and MSI.
