1Link connectivity with various banks is reported as disrupted, due to which customers have complained of severe difficulty in withdrawing money from Automated teller machines (ATMs).

The disruption resulted in a blockade targeting the cash withdrawal from the ATMs affecting various customers.

Citing Geo News, users complained that online money transfers are also impacted because of this disruption. Transfers between different banks are delayed or unable to be completed, displaying errors that impact personal and business transactions. Point-of-Sale (POS) Transactions: Retailers and businesses using card payment systems are facing difficulties, affecting sales and customer transactions.

1LINK, one of the country’s largest payment gateways, officials issued a clarification while stating Geo News that the connectivity of some banks is affected as the issue is being resolved.

Earlier in August, 1Link issued a warning, and turned down rumours spreading online and WhatsApp which warned that ATMs and online banking services were under cyberattack.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is actively working with banks and 1LINK to maintain the security of Pakistan’s financial infrastructure and digital payments ecosystem, ensuring compliance with stringent IT and security guidelines.
