In Baldur’s Gate 3, the game's most challenging mode, Honor Mode, comes with unexpected dangers, as one player discovered during a seemingly innocent game of fetch with Scratch the Dog.

Reddit user Renilas issued a warning on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit on January 1, sharing a cautionary tale titled “Playing fetch with Scratch ended my campaign.” Renilas recounted an incident during Act One where an attempt to play fetch with the dog turned the entire camp hostile, unexpectedly triggering a fatal reaction from the companions.

Despite the companions not being levelled up and posing a minimal threat, an unforeseen complication arose. A level 12 Oathbreaker Knight, also present in the camp, responded aggressively to the fetch incident, leading to Renilas’ swift exit from the game in just four rounds.

Similar encounters were reported by other players, indicating unintended consequences. One player, whyreadthis2035, recounted a similar experience while testing a weapon's functionality, while Nighteroni narrowly avoided a camp-wide conflict by casting sleep on Scratch after an accidental provocation.

For players attempting an Honor Mode run, these unexpected hostilities when interacting with Scratch at camp serve as a vital lesson — approach playful interactions cautiously to avoid unintentional and dire consequences.
