Banks to remain closed on Tuesday in Pakistan, SBP issues statement

All banks will observe holiday on September 17 on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi

The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on September 17, 2024(Tuesday), which will be observed as a bank holiday. 

The central bank issued a statement on Friday that all the banks will remain closed on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa-Sallam).

On September 6, the federal government also announced a public holiday on September 17 on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

Rabi-ul-Awwal is the third month in the Islamic lunar calendar, and the sacred day of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal holds profound significance for Muslims, as it marks the birth of muslim’s beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

A circular from the Cabinet Division mentioned that all the educational institutes including schools, colleges, and public and private offices will also observe the holiday on September 17.

Muslims all across the globe celebrate this auspicious occasion in an extremely sacred manner, which is also known as the Mawlid al-Nabawi in Arabic.
