BMW announces M2 CS successor launch in 2026

Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW) announced the development of a new entry-level race car, which is said to be launched in 2026. The as-yet-unnamed car is inspired by the G87-spec M2, which is said to have been in production since last year and recently received a less refresh for the 2025 model year.

The German multinational manufacturer of luxury vehicles and motorcycles, provided some information about the racing car except for a prospective 2026 launch, integrating that more details will be unveiled later.

The new car is expected to change the current BMW M2 Racing, which was launched in 2021 and has seen action in series like TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School, the Hankook 24H Series along with in NLS and the Nürburgring 24.

BMW Head of Customer Racing stated: “Proximity to our customers is one of the maxims we pursue at BMW M Motorsport.”

“From our point of view, this also includes offering a car for grassroots racing that teams and newcomers to racing can afford and that at the same time offers them BMW M Motorsport technology at the highest level,” the BMW head added

“Accordingly, we are delighted to be able to announce a successor model to the BMW M235i Racing, BMW M240i Racing, and BMW M2 CS Racing at this point. Our engineers are already working intensively at this early stage of development to optimally prepare the car for customer use.”
