Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been unveiled as the latest instalment in the first-person shooter franchise. The shooter's features will be completely disclosed immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024, beginning at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.

Xbox Wire reported that this edition returns to the numbered pattern for a clandestine operations-focused perspective. Following the news, a YouTube announcement video appeared, with the words "The Truth Lies" written on the eyes of the famed Mount Rushmore.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the developers featured a mysterious Cerberus-style head above a black dollar note. Call of Duty has informed fans that "A dark new chapter of the Black Ops franchise begins."

There was widespread conjecture regarding a Gulf War-themed spin on the Black Ops franchise, with a November release date expected. The post-Xbox Games Showcase event will very certainly confirm our expectations that this title will be released in late autumn, but the topic may alter significantly.

Until the Xbox Showcase event, cryptic messaging and rumours will circulate regarding the theme and the era in which this Call of Duty game will be set.

In addition, the event will use Starfield Direct's double-feature format. The Xbox Wire reports, "We'll be airing a special deep-dive into the next installment in the beloved Call of Duty franchise—Call of Duty: Black Ops 6."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gets the honour of taking centre stage at an event celebrating all of Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios' cooperation.

However, with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft has yet to properly release all of the top-tier titles in its burgeoning library. So this might be the first time we witness the full force of Microsoft's gaming franchises in action.
