The journey of ChatGPT has been marked by continual advancements, with each version building upon previous tools, as now the parent company OpenAI is making it available on the web with a major multitasking upgrade.

OpenAI on Tuesday, rolled out the new update for all supported macOS versions and added a “companion window” for the ChatGPT app.

With the new update, users will be able to get side-by-side access to the chatbot without any interruption, helping to enhance the workflow.

Mac users can now easily refer to the data presented by ChatGPT with a glance, rather than constantly finding the window and putting it in front of others.

OpenAI claimed that it has also brought improvements to data analysis, with the new version offering an expandable view for tables and charts, making it easier to adjust and download charts for other purposes.

Here’s how to use ChatGPT with other tabs

  1. The Option + Space shortcut provides quick access to the companion window.
  2. Now start a new chat.
  3. Next, refocus the cursor to an open companion window.
  4. Lastly, reopen the last companion window.

You can also customise its position, reset time, and keyboard shortcut in Settings. You can also pop out a previous conversation into a companion window by clicking the icon from the main desktop app window.

However, Windows users will need to wait for a similar update, and till then they might use the web-based version of ChatGPT.
