While the renowned chatbot from OpenAI has no parallel, per the company's self-proclaimed remarks on ChatGPT, the company is set to imitate Claude.ai, a relatively less popular AI tool.
In an array of announcements during “12 Days of OpenAI,” the company disclosed that ChatGPT is set to offer a folder system called “Projects” to enable users to neatly classify and organise their chats and data regarding a particular subject.
“This is really just another organisational tool. I think of these as smart folders,” Thomas Dimson, an OpenAI staff member, said during the live stream.
In terms of functionality, ChatGPT Projects is reminiscent of Claude’s chat organisation feature, allowing users to keep their document chats in a classified manner.
For instance, if an author is conducting research for his upcoming book, he can upload relevant notes, documents, and sources to a single Project folder. This will save users from resharing those documents every time they kick off a chat session with the chatbot.
“Users can now maintain their home projects more effectively. We’re all about making it easier for people to access the information they need when they need it,” noted Dimson.
Citing an example displayed during the live stream by OpenAI, Digital Trends noted that users can even upload their home maintenance logs and appliance details to a Projects folder, which can later be swiftly fetched upon asking the AI bot about when their fridge or some other electronic appliances needs maintenance.
