Alphabet-owned Google recently unveiled that the desktop version of Chrome is set to integrate some new features in the coming weeks, powered by “the latest Google AI and Gemini models.”

The forthcoming features will help you save time and locate the things you are searching for. Gadinsider has got you a look at these AI-powered features.

Tab compare

When shopping online, constantly switching between various tabs to read reviews and compare prices can be irritating and time-consuming. To handle this issue, Chrome for the desktop will soon receive a new Tab compare feature that will offer you an AI-generated overview of products spanning various tabs.

How to use browser history on Chrome

Browser history can be helpful if you inadvertently close a tab or window or need to find a page that you were browsing a few hours ago. While you can already search for a page using Chrome’s history feature, it can be complicated if you need to search for some information on a page that you opened a few minutes ago.

Google said that users can go through their browsing history in “a more natural, conversational way with the help of AI” by asking questions like “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?”. The company added that this feature will be optional and won’t add browsing data from incognito mode.

Google Lens for Chrome

Google Lens for Chrome will soon be offered on the desktop version. Google said that users will be able to “easily select, search and ask questions about anything you see on the web, all without leaving your current tab.”

How to get Google Lens for Chrome

To use Google Lens in Chrome, all you are required to do is press on the colourful camera icon that shows on the address bar and click or drag the things you need to search. Meanwhile, you can trigger Chrome Google Lens by simply right-clicking or using the three-dot menu.

Google said that users can also refine their search using the multi-search feature to do things like “search by colour, brand or another detail” and even ask follow-up questions.
