Google ChromeOS 130 is upgraded with new features — Quick Insert, Focus Mode, Welcome Recap, more.
Chromebook Plus models with neural processing unit (NPU) receive exclusive special features in 130, like the new recorder app with artificial intelligence (AI), improved mic, camera effects, and Gemini AI tools like “help me read” summaries.
Moreover, there’s a lineup of updates in ChromeOS 130, but here are some highlights.
- Quick Insert is a way to include emojis, GIFs, or links to recently visited sites and access AI features from a menu. On the majority of devices, that results in using the launcher or Google button plus f on your keyboard.
- On the other hand, Focus Mode allows you to enable do not disturb and schedule time to reduce distractions while you work.
- AI update includes new AI tools, like the Recorder app, which is available on all Chromebooks, while some AI features are exclusive to Chromebook Plus models, including advanced microphone and camera effects, and Gemini AI tools like "help me read" summaries.
