Spotify has long introduced an artificial intelligence-based feature which allows users to generate a playlist based on written prompts.
The audio streaming service uses large language models (LLMs) to understand the user’s intent and creates a playlist based on a combination of genres, moods, artists, and decades.

How to make Spotify playlists using AI
Gadinsider has compiled this step-by-step guide that will help you create a personalised AI-generated Spotify playlist.
- Open the Spotify app on your Android or iOS device and go to the “Your Library” tab.
- Next, look for the + (plus) button in the top right corner and tap it. Now, select the AI playlist option.
A text box will appear in which you can describe your playlist idea or prompt in detail.
- Click the green “arrow” button to generate the prompt.
Notably, Spotify also provides suggestions and recommendations above the text box with options such as limiting the playlist to a specific period or decade of music.
Once the prompt is submitted successfully, Spotify will generate an AI-based playlist based on the details provided.
- If satisfied with the suggested playlist, click “Create” to save it in your library.
