The Directorate of Passport and Immigration issued a statement on Saturday denying all recent media reports regarding a surge in passport fees and further clarifying that the fees were previously updated on March 7.
A directorate spokesperson called all these claims “baseless” and highlighted that the existing passport issuance fees remain effective.
Existing passport fees in Pakistan
According to the current fee schedule, a five-year fee for a 36-page passport is Rs4,500 for regular processing, Rs7,500 for urgent processing, and Rs12,500 for fast-track service.
A five-year fee for a 72-page passport is Rs82,000 for regular processing, and Rs13,500 for urgent, and it costs Rs18,500 for fast-track service.
Lost passport fee in Pakistan
Furthermore, in case of losing a passport, the re-issue fee for a lost 36-page passport costs Rs9,000, along with resulting losses charging double fees.
The spokesperson further urged the individuals to avoid all the groundless rumours, reaffirming that recent passport fees apply to several document types, such as machine-readable passports (MRPs) and e-passports, with several costs that vary on the page count and the selected service option.
Over the past few days, some media reports have been circulating regarding the latest fee structure, reportedly released by the federal government that included marked alterations for MRPs and e-passports.
According to the Directorate of Passport and Immigration, the existing passport fee schedule is still in effect with no changes implemented yet, as mentioned earlier.
