Disney is hiking the price of its streaming services, which include Disney Plus, ESPN, and Hulu. In an announcement today, price hikes across the board would hit subscribers starting October 17. But that's not all—Disney is also introducing new features to enhance the streaming experience.

New monthly subscriptions to Disney streaming services

The price of monthly subscriptions to Disney Plus with ads would rise from $8 to $10, while the ad-free tier is shifting to $16 from $14. Annual ad-free plans will shift to $160 from $140.

New announcements of Disney Plus amid price hike

Alongside the price hike, Disney Plus is also releasing curated playlists, with a preschool-focused playlist launching on September 4th, followed by more categories such as Seasonal, Epic Stories, Throwbacks, and Real Life. The update would let subscribers discover new content with little effort on their part.

However, this may not be good news for any subscriber, in particular, its the wrong time, considering the economic climate, but Disney is likely going ahead and doing it because of tremendous push toward streaming profitability.
