In a bid to protect its customers and maintain the integrity of digital financial services, Easypaisa has lodged a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against individuals spreading false and misleading information on social media platforms.
The complaint targets a baseless rumour stating that the Easypaisa accounts would be blocked all over the country on September 30, 2024, prompting account holders to withdraw their funds.
However, the malicious rumour has unnecessarily panicked the customers and damaged the reputation of the company. Easypaisa Head of Litigation Naresh Kumar Aruwani filed a complaint regarding the rumour and stated that customers should be protected from such frivolous rumours.
The FIA's Cyber Crime Wing, Sindh, has taken the complaint seriously and assigned the case to experienced investigator Mr Ameer Ali Khoso. An inquiry has been launched to identify and take legal action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
