Amazon, the American e-commerce giant, unveiled an all-new version of its Echo Spot ahead of Prime Day. The 2024 edition of the Alexa-enabled smart alarm clock is priced at $79.99, but is currently on sale for $44.99 for Prime members.

Amazon highlighted that the latest iteration features enhanced visuals and improved audio quality. The device is available in three colours: Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue.

Designed for nightstands, the Echo Spot includes a display for setting and viewing alarms, checking the time, weather updates, and song titles. It boasts a 1.73” front-firing directional speaker that delivers clear vocals and deep bass.

However, unlike its predecessor, this new version does not have an integrated camera for video calling. This change may appeal to users who prefer not to have a camera in their bedroom. Additionally, the new design separates the front of the device from the speaker.

Being Alexa-enabled, users can use voice commands to set alarms, play music, make calls, broadcast messages across their homes, and more.

Similar to the previous model, the new Echo Spot is customisable. Users can mix and match clock faces and choose from six different colour schemes: magenta, violet, orange, lime, teal, or blue.

Unlike Amazon's Echo Show products, the Echo Spot's display primarily shows animations instead of videos. For example, when asking Alexa about the weather, the Echo Spot displays illustrations reflecting the weather conditions and temperature.
