The Elon Musk-founded artificial intelligence (AI) firm xAI rolled out an application programming interface (API) for its generative AI model Grok.

Despite getting launched a whole month earlier, the API entails many significant offerings exclusively for developers to be employed in building apps and software based on it.

Grok API offers free credits to developers

Configured to be generated with the help of the xAI console while letting users customise its functionality, the biggest perk it extended to developers is free credits worth $25 a month till the end of the year.

The rollout of the Grok API was highlighted by Tesla boss Elon Musk in a post he shared on X (formerly Twitter) almost three weeks ago, but it seems that was not sufficient to catch the developer community's eyes as xAI's official handle on X announced the release of the API alongside various incentives to gain the attention of developers but to no avail.

For developers initially signing up on the xAI console, $25 worth of free credits will be granted every month till the end of 2024.

Since only two months are left for the ongoing year to pass, each developer aspiring to make the most of Grok API can bag a maximum of $50 of API credits without spending a dime.

The reward spree has not reached its end, as xAI is also offering some amazing rewards for developers with purchased prepaid credits for the API. xAI stated in a blog post that developers having purchased prepaid credits will be offered an equivalent amount of free monthly credits for every month until the end of the year.
