Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, has a new development to share. In a recent post on the platform, Elon Musk announced that the chatbot feature, which was previously exclusive to Premium+ members, will now be accessible to all platform subscribers. However, further specifics were not provided.
Amidst a shift in advertiser engagement with the microblogging site, the platform's billionaire leader has emphasised the need to decrease dependency on advertising revenue. Consequently, the focus has shifted towards enhancing subscription offerings to make them more appealing to users.
In a related move, earlier this month, the CEO of X announced plans to open-source Grok, a project by xAI. This decision came after legal action was taken against OpenAI, criticising the organization for deviating from its original non-profit ethos to a profit-driven model.

This strategic shift towards open-sourcing Grok could democratise access to the technology's underlying code, allowing the public to experiment freely. It places xAI in line with other major players like Meta and France's Mistral, who have already adopted open-source approaches for their AI models.
