Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Rockstar Games. It's been a highly anticipated title since its announcement, but the studio's secrecy has led to significant attention around recent leaks.
In September 2022, hackers invaded the servers of Rockstar and then published about 90 minutes of development footage, revealing confidential details regarding the upcoming GTA 6.
It revealed details about the game's protagonists, settings, and environments. The leaks are not that huge of a deal, according to Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who worked on GTA 3 and GTA San Andreas.

Vermeij said that much of the attention the leaks get is because Rockstar hasn't said anything, and if the studio shared more with their fans, the leaks wouldn't be "as important as people think."
Vermeij protected the Rockstar approach: "Big companies often get negative coverage regardless of what news they share," and he believed that ultimately, the best bet for a developer is to just remain silent — like in the case of GTA 6 — no matter how it goes.
Moreover, Vermeij warned the fans that they should tamper down the expectations regarding the arrival of GTA 6, saying that it is not going to be a generation-ahead game compared with the predecessor. He said that the expectations of the fans sometimes are highly unreasonable and that exerts a lot of pressure on the developers.
