Federal budget 2024-25: Govt increases excise duty on air tickets — Check new rates

In an alarming news for travellers, the federal government has announced new excise duties on air tickets, starting from new fiscal year 2023-24.

The new duties on air tickets are a part of the Finance Bill 2024. The move is expected to impact the cost of air travel for many passengers.

It should be noted that Pakistanis travelling to and from the United States, Canada, North and Latin America will bear the brunt of these high costs as excise duty for these routes have been increased by Rs100,000 from Rs250,000 to Rs350,000.

Meanwhile, duty on business class flights to European countries have been increased by Rs60,000 from the previous Rs150,000 to the Rs210,000.

A Rs60,000 hike will also be witnessed by travelers to New Zealand, Australia.
