Apple’s popular flight-tracking app, Flighty, was first launched in 2019 to make it easier for travellers to navigate their entire trip.

However, now Apple has released a new 4.0 version of its flight tracking app that uses machine learning and aviation authority data to provide early warnings of flight delays and give users the reason behind such delays.

Flighty also explains that there are two major reasons why flights usually get delayed. This includes factors such as the usage of late-arriving aircraft and airspace traffic issues.

Therefore, the app is updated to help users make more informed decisions about travel plans by giving them information that airlines typically won’t.

When an airline delays your travel by half an hour, then an hour, and so on, Flighty will be able to let you know in advance that your flight will likely have a five-hour delay due to whether the official ground stops at the airport or weather issues.

Using this information one can choose to do things like rebook your flight or wait a bit longer before heading out to the airport.

Moreover, Flighty also monitors every trackable delay reason, including late-arriving aeroplanes, air traffic control notices and airport operational issues that are responsible for up to 35% of all delays and Flighty 4.0 predicts these delays up to six hours before airlines acknowledge them.

These predictions are over 95% accurate, according to the US Bureau of Transportation

The latest version of the app also includes live airport performance trends that feature live performance of takeoffs and landings at airports, so users can ensure that their airport is operating normally.

Flighty 4.0 is available today on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac devices with a Flighty Pro subscription that costs $4 for one week or $48 for a year.
