Galaxy S23 Ultra's One UI 6.1.1 update taken down over camera issues

Older Galaxy devices running on One UI 6.1.1 firmware were also fortunate to remain out of the bug's grasp

After missing out on multiple release dates, Samsung earlier this month released a major One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S24 series, but took it down shortly following its expansion to older Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The decision to the recall One UI update was taken owing to an unknown bug which caused annoyance among users utilising the Galaxy S23's zoom.

The South Korean tech giant pulled the plug on its in-house software update after Samsung users flooded the internet with complaints. Those affected by the withdrawal are advised to be patient until the bug gets resolved.

As per Android Police, the camera problem in the Galaxy S23 Ultra's latest One UI 6.1.1 update prompted ghosting in pictures taken between zoom levels 16x and 19.9x with "intelligent optimisation" enabled.

What points towards Samsung's consumer-considerate decision-making is that the company acknowledged the issue right after Galaxy users encountered and reported inconvenience.

Since the bug did not affect users of the standard Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Plus, they can still download the One UI 6.1.1 update. Similarly, older Galaxy devices running on One UI 6.1.1 firmware were also fortunate to remain out of the bug's grasp, meaning One UI 6.1.1 stays intact to download and use.
