Samsung’s One User Interface (UI) 6 is the company’s latest operating system (OS) that relies on Wear OS 5, and it is set to be rolled out to older watch generations in a beta phase. The Galaxy Watch 4 is said to receive an upgrade to the One UI 6 beta that lets always-on display (AOD) run anywhere on the watch.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is set to receive its fourth One UI 6 beta under the firmware variant ending with ZXH4.

This upgrade is only being released in South Korea. The changelog suggested a few reforms to the Wear OS 5 beta, including system and performance optimisations, which are a staple of any update.

Additionally, the update integrates basic network optimisations. The big feature involved in the One UI 6 update is recognised as “Global AOD.”

What is Global AOD?

Global AOD means the always-on display function is being upgraded to a version that will showcase whatever screen the watch fell asleep displaying. For instance, AOD would kick in if you’re working out and stop looking at your watch. On the display, you’ll still view workout info, though it’ll be dimmer to conserve battery.

The new feature is a considerable addition. The Galaxy Watch 4 is several generations old, but it was Samsung’s first Tizen and Wear OS hybrid watch.
