While nearly all the major smartphone makers are making strides with zest and zeal to roll out new software updates to embrace a technological edge against rivals, Samsung seems to be dragging a loose end behind the competition with its latest foldable.

It appears that Samsung might have to release the monthly Google Play System update for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Citing sources, Android Central reported that the latest Samsung flagship phones have not received a Play System software update since their launch. This news hints at the foldable running on the old-school version of Google Play Systems dropped in April 2024.

The news outlet outlined that there's a difference between Samsung's monthly security updates and Google's Play Systems patches, and due to unspecified reasons, neither the Galaxy Flip 6 nor the Galaxy Fold 6 received such a patch.

The Play System updates are released to ensure that Android's "core elements" remain well-kept, subsequently resulting in a better performance of the Play Store.

Deeper digging brought to light that the Galaxy Flip 6 nor the Galaxy Fold 6 are the only Samsung devices left out in the cold, as the older, other flagships of the company, like the Galaxy S24, have been timely receiving new Play Systems software updates.
