Garmin, a leading brand in the wearable technology market, has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its Connect IQ app store experience.

However, with one of its newest integrations, the Garmin Pay app would let users buy premium watch faces and apps smoothly inside the store. The move is for more extensive accessibility in personalisation, but here comes the catch — the purchases can only be made with Garmin Pay.

The company's decision to incorporate Garmin Pay into the Connect IQ store eliminates a major hurdle for users and developers.

This integration is expected to attract more third-party support, ultimately rounding out the company's fitness trackers. Historically, Garmin's app store has been limited compared to competitors like Apple and Google. However, this move marks a significant improvement.

New on the app store, in the Connect IQ store, are a few new exciting options. Some are premium watch faces from developers like Disney, Porsche, and TaylorMade. There is also a new app: GoPro Camera Control, to allow users to control their video recording and photo taking straight from their wrist.

Pricing and availability

The new apps and watch faces are available for purchase, with a suggested retail price of $4.99. While this may seem pricey compared to options in the Google Play Store for Wear OS smartwatches, it's a significant step forward for Garmin's app store.
