Gmail is adding revamped summary cards on Android and iOS, offering quick access to information that users might need at a glance.

“The summary cards will visually organise information from all related emails and will appear across email categories such as Purchases, Events, Bills, and Travel,” Google stated.

New categories in Gmail summary cards

New summary cards will appear at the top of a message and users won’t have to go through individual emails to find the required information, including the receipts, bills, travel confirmations, and dinner reservations.

For instance, when a package is due to be delivered, when a flight is scheduled to land, when a bill is due, or information about the seats booked on concert tickets, and more.

Alongside the summary card, the company has also added a blue button for Gmail users to take additional actions, such as tracking the package, viewing an order, or setting a reminder to pay a bill.

It appears that Google might have revamped Gmail in a move to stay competitive, following Apple's significant updates to its Mail app with the recent iOS 18 update.

Additionally, Gmail also introduced a new “Happening soon” section within the inbox where it will organise timely summary cards for easy access. These cards will also be surfaced in Gmail searches.

The revamped summary cards for purchases have started to roll out to Gmail for Android and iOS. However, the event, bill, travel summary cards, and “Happening soon” option will be available shortly.
