Google is set to bring back the tab groups sharing option on its web browser Chrome for Android, after removing it back in 2021.
The feature included an option that allowed users to share tab groups with others by selecting a tab group and opening the three-dot menu. Later, it no longer existed in the browser app and users couldn’t enable it even with flags.
However, Google is reportedly working on a dedicated button for the feature, making it easier to access, as reported by an X user (formerly called Twitter) and expert debugger @Leopeva64.

Here’s how tab group sharing feature works
According to the X user, after the update, this new button will appear at the top of the tab group, next to the buttons, to add tabs and open the three-dot menu.
Moreover, selecting the new share button will navigate to an “Invite people” window, where users will be able to invite others to view the tab group by entering their email.
When the recipient accepts the invitation, the tab group will show a new shared group indicator along with the display picture of the recipient. If the user does not have a profile photo, the indicator will show the initial letter of their name within a circle.
The three-dot menu in shared tab groups will include four additional options including manage sharing, check recent activity, close the group, and delete the group. It will also give users the option to open or leave the group.
Currently, the feature in the development process and is not functional in the current Canary release so it isn’t confirmed when Google’s web browser will receive this update.
