Google Contacts, the popular contact management app, is gearing up for a subtle yet useful update. The upcoming change, spotted in version 4.39, aims to optimise the app's interface by shifting contact names to the left, freeing up space for longer entries.
Currently, the app layout is a bit cluttered; it does so for contacts whose names are long. With this slide to the left, Google Contacts can fit more characters, making it easier to read and manage your contacts.
Subtle changes like these can make a huge difference in user experience, especially for those who have an extremely large number of contacts.
The new Google Contacts update is not live just yet, but it should roll out soon enough. Google has been maintaining and improving Contacts quite actively this year, with past updates adding more features while refining the user interface (UI).

The change above shows even the tiny details are not spared in making its apps easier to use.
The new layout would be grouping names with the use of letter separators to make them look clearer and more organised. Changes like this are almost invisible during the first view, but such a thoughtful adjustment would be well-received among users who have rather long contact lists.
While the changes to come in Google Contacts might seem quite minute, they sure can make much of a difference in the functionality and experience of the app.
