Google Drive on Desktop received a homepage overhauled design last year to assist users in immediately searching important files and folders. The new design provided personalised file and folder suggestions relied on recent activity, sharing patterns, and connected Google Calendar events, and organised them in separate Files and Folders tabs.
The search engine giant has released an update for this homepage view that unites the file and folder suggestions for easier access.
Google noted that the updated homepage would now display up to six suggested folders at the top with a “View more” button that would unveil 12 suggestions. Moreover, users would see up to 10 suggested files below the folder suggestions, and up to 30 suggestions in the extended view.

While in any case, Google Drive doesn’t have more than the default number of suggestions, users would not be able to see the “View more” button. Google said that this new homepage view is set to be enabled by default once it rolls out over the coming weeks.
Whereas, users would have the option to revert to the My Drive view by navigating to the Start page option in the Google Drive settings.
The updated design is set to be available for all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
