Google Gemini has introduced a new ability, allowing users to make calls and send text messages from the lock screen, even when the phone is locked.

This development marks a significant step forward for Google Gemini, as it continues to expand its capabilities to compete with Google Assistant.

According to Android Authority, this new Gemini AI feature was spotted in the Google app beta version 15.48 and will be widely available in a few weeks.

To activate this new feature, users must navigate to Gemini's settings and toggle on the "Make calls and send messages without unlocking" option as it is off by default.

This setting is located on the Gemini on the lock screen page, under the "Outgoing calls and messages" option.

However, the description under the setting reads “You’ll need to turn on your calling and messaging apps in Gemini for these features to work.”

This feature will allow users to respond to urgent messages or make calls without the extra step of unlocking their phones.

Moreover, Google is also working on an “I’m feeling lucky button” for Gemini, which would generate random prompts for the Gemini to respond to, similar to the feature found on Google Search.
