Google Lens has introduced a new feature that allows users to use voice commands to add context to their searches. Previously, users could only search by selecting specific aspects of their images, but this functionality has now been enhanced.
The development was discovered by Android Police, who noticed a glowing animation in the app. The animation appeared with a magnification icon, and tapping it caused a “search with voice” tooltip to appear. Holding down the shutter button displayed the message: “Speak now to ask questions about the image.”

Users can then make their desired command, which appears as a text transcript on the screen. Following this, Google Gemini will generate an appropriate response.
To use this feature, users need to press and hold the shutter button in Lens, prompting the message: "Speak now to ask about this image." After asking a question, releasing the button will trigger Google Gemini to attempt to provide an answer.
While the software generally performs well, it may occasionally get a few trivial things wrong, which is part of the regular process of refinement.
