Hyundai Motor Group has announced a collaboration with Google to bring Google Maps to its infotainment system.
According to the automobile manufacturer, Kia drivers in North America will be the first to benefit from this integration, with subsequent rollouts planned for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models globally.
Notably, earlier, Hyundai announced plans to adopt Android Automotive starting in 2026; however, this partnership comes as a separate one.
Google Maps integration into Hyundai, Kia vehicles
“Drivers of new Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles will soon get access to fresh information about 250 million places around the world from Google Maps Platform, in addition to the convenience of the Android Automotive Operating System, right in their vehicles,” stated Hyundai Motors.
This partnership will provide drivers of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles with access to information about 250 million places worldwide, enhancing their navigation experience.
Integration of Google Maps “Places API” will enable the company to improve navigation accuracy, leveraging Maps' vast information about different places, including up-to-date details about business hours, contact information, ratings, reviews, and more.
It’s worth noting that the current navigation app for the companies primarily uses data from the digital mapping company TomTom.
With this step, Hyundai aims to deliver next-generation navigation and infotainment experiences to its customers.
